This ACCUSHARP® sharpener can make any double-edged western-style knife sharp in a hurry. The secret is the industrial quality, super hard carbide blades, which are way harder than any knife user will likely come across. The blades are so hard, tough and sharp that we recommend a few light passes to raise an edge. For a really dull blade, a few firm passes may be needed. Once the edge is raised, dress it on the ceramic rods, or if the knife already has a good edge, maintain it on the ceramic rods. The broad sticky base attaches securely to a flat surface, making this nearly the equal of any bench mounted system for stability.
